Pong on a Chick

What’s better than playing Pong? Playing Pong on the dress of some hot chick! Two designers from the Ludic Society have designed a dress for woman that is capable of playing Pong on it.

White LED’s shine through the black front of the dress. At hip level, two retro-game consoles are offered to players to play Mini-Pong on a 5×7 LED screen worked into the dress. Two pixels move up and down as rackets to the left and right along the waist. With every achieved point, the green score display blinks at chest level.

What was Sega thinking?

And you wonder why Sega is no longer making hardware? It’s because they tried shit like this. The funniest thinga bout the video (hit the link) is the game shown (Eternal Champions) was one of the first Genesis games to use all 6 buttons on the new game pads. The activator only supports 3 buttons. Whooooops!

…the number one crappiest peripheral ever created. The Sega Activator was an octagonal game controller for the Sega Genesis that used infrared beams toactivator.jpg interpret movements. The Activator is placed on the floor, and the player stands inside the octagon. Each face of the octagon corresponds to a direction or button on the Genesis control pad. Breaking the infrared beams activates that button. Every time you restarted the machine you had to calibrate the Activator. This involved having to stand 3 feet away from the device, quite tricky in most kids’ bedrooms.

The First Time Machine

Just click the link and watch the video. It’s a totally amazing effect. It really looks like time is stopped for the dripping water. Hell the device even looks like a Flux Capacitor!

It all started when my friend Jesse told me that if you get a strobe light fast enough, you can make it look like dripping water is going in slow motion or even backwards. This phenomenon happens because strobe lights can ‘capture’ an instant in time and allow your eyes to see it as lasting longer than an instant. So if the strobe light captures consecutive instants of time just out of sync with a periodic occurrence such as dripping water from a faucet, it can appear that the drops are moving slowly or even backwards.

Bed defies Gravity

Oh hell yes. This is the only bed in existance that can actually say, “It’s like sleeping on air” and really mean it.

“No matter where you live all architecture is dictated by gravity. I wondered whether you could make an object, a building or a piece of furniture where this is not the case — where another power actually dictates the image,” Ruijssenaars said.Magnets built into the floor and into the bed itself repel each other, pushing the bed up into the air. Thin steel cables tether the bed in place.
