E3: Day 1
Day 1 is done. Actually right now it’s the morning of Day 2, and I’m trying to catch up on my posts and news and such. I gotta say, it’s even harder than I imagined to do this show as a 1 man gig. There is very little time, and more so, very little space to step aside and get some work done.
I had a great day yesterday hitting up both Nintendo and Sony’s press briefings. Sony’s by far outshone Nintendo’s. Not only was the presentation better, but they had stuff going on before (food), and stuff going on after (games and food). It was the first time I ever got to visit a movie studio as well, so that was hella cool.
After all the crap from that, it was time to get back to the hotels, but being 25 minutes away via a shuttle it was impossible to make my 1PM meeting with id. DAMN IT. I almost missed my 1:30 as well, but Mr. Joseph Olin of the AIAS was kind enough to still sit down with me. I had a great chat with him, and as soon as I get Odeo working I’ll link it up for you guys to listen to.
A few more press conferences followed, mostly boring. Though Activision tried to spruce things up by having Jamie Kennedy host it. While he wasn’t necessarily funny, it was a welcome break from big wig excecs spewing numbers. Plus they had a ton of special guests there like Slash from Guns N Roses, Tony Hawk, and Stan Lee.
Finally the night ended with two parties. First up was the Games for Windows party where I got to see some graphical hotness in the form of Crysis. Me want…bad. Gears was looking fantastic on PC as well, and a few other titles like World in Conflict were also standouts. I’m sure glad I have an 8800GTX. Most of the time there was spent talking to fellow Pennsylvannian Chris Grant from Joystiq. Chris rocks, and if you don’t read Joystiq you should.
Finally we hit up the Age of Conan party. I believe it was at a strip club. At least…there were strippers there. No boobies though. Pretty damn close. Oh…and there was a snake. A big white snake.

aww you had so much fun. Like i said I just walk up to nintendo’s thing and got in was it me are was that place not crowded? I’m still buzzed about the microsoft stuff. I passed by age of conan I couldn’t find parking. I saw the EA press thing wasted some time all they show was casual stuff, but got a free bag. went to SOE to see the agency. free mints. got to the hotel and my internt dont work.stop by Barker play some stuff. Adam Sessler wanted to talk to me cuz no one was around him but I just keep looking at the TV. day 2 is better saw midway at 9. unreal toury 3, area 51, aqua teen. When to Ubisoft with no appointment but they had an opening so i took it. when to NCsoft to see tabula rosa for the umpteenth year, free game, beta code, and a ipod nano. better free thing I ever gotten from E3, ever. waiting in the press room untill a meeting at 4. hope to pass by the other MS, EA, Sony, before its all over!!!!
So far I like and hate barker/E3 I like that there is no crowd but I hate the displays at barker too plain but like the no lines for playing. Also like everyone else the shuttle thing sucks. like right now I want to pass by MS but i know i wont make it for a meetin in a half hour. tomarrow I’ll just pass by who ever I missed today like MS so I’ll see ya in the mornin at Ms viceroy to get rejected for not having an appointment. I thought everything was open to attendies? still the E3 within E3
